Regina Caeli

The Regina Caeli, sung by Schola Gregoriana Mediolanensis:
Regina caeli, laetare, alleluia.
Quia quem meruisti portare, alleluia.
Resurrexit, sicut dixit, alleluia.
Ora pro nobis Deum, alleluia.
Gaude et laetare, Virgo Maria, alleluia.
Quia surrexit Dominus vere, alleluia

Salve Regina

The Salve Regina Marian antiphon sung at Notre-Dame de Paris:

Akathist to the Holy Virgin

You can listen to the Akathist  to the  Holy Virgin, sung by the Georgian Harmony Choir and Nana Peradze, on the YouTube link below.

According to Orthodox Wiki,
"The word akathist itself means 'not sitting.' The akathist par excellence is that written in the 6th century to the Theotokos. In its use as part of the Salutations to the Theotokos service (used in the Byzantine tradition during Great Lent), it is often known by its Greek or Arabic names, Chairetismoi and Madayeh, respectively."

Welcome / Bienvenue

Welcome to the blog set up as a resource for the members of the Norwich and Fécamp Cathedrals who will be coming together in Norwich in April 2010. The focus for study and discourse is  the role of Mary in the life of the Church, with the document Mary: Grace and Hope in Christ being read by both groups.

Links to this document as well as commentaries on the text, and other links dealing with Mary, can be found on the lists in the right hand column of this blog.
